Gearbox to fit 2.8

Was speaking to a friend a couple of nights ago and he has just bought a Vixen 'project'. He has a 2.8 granada engine that he wants to put in and is after a gearbox with bell housing that will mate up. I suspect one from an early S would fit? Any advice and any available anywhere at the right money??

Both the 2.8 and 2.9 S use the same close ratio type 9 (also called Type N) gearbox from a V6 Capri. The bolt pattern for both engines is the same. The same gearbox has also been fitted to granada's V6 and early sierras V6, but I don't know if these are close ratio. An MT75 as fitted to later sierras V6 and scorpio's V6 would also fit, but the MT75's ratios are less suited and it's a bit bulkier. It can handle more power though.

Sweet Thunder is right:

Had mine broken, changed it to to one of a Sierra 6 Zylinder Type (XR4 - non AWD) worked perfectly. That broke again and was then changed to that of a simple 2. Litre Sierra. Works still fine and makes much more fun cause its kind of shorter.
