Where to keep a fire extinguisher?

Can anyone recommend a good place in the car to mount the storage bracket?

Mine is mounted on the rear bulkhead behind the drivers seat, always handy and a wise precaution

Sideways under the driver's knees is the best place I've found. Doesn't get in the way, more or less out of sight when the car is parked up, you can get at it from the driving position without dislocating your shoulder and you can also get at it easily from outside the car.

I had a scary experience years ago when as a late teenager I had a High Peformance Escort (read as MK1 1300GT).
Stupidly I put a glass bottle of drink under the seat,I had reason to break hard causing the bottle to roll forward, at the second push of the brakes the bottle was under the pedal stopping me from pressing it, luckily there was a flat verge so I was able to swerve and miss the car in front. I am now very reluctant to have anything in the drivers footwell that can roll, one in a million I know, but may be a consideration.

Mine is sideways under front seat. If it IS going to come out of its bracket in an accident, I'd rather it rolled into my ankles than flew into the back of my head, thanks.

Thanks very much for all the replies. On reading the instructions, the manufacturers recommend either under the drivers seat or in the passenger footwell. At least on the passenger side there's no risk of anything dislodging and getting under the pedals.

What about in that little 'trough' between the footwell and the front wing? Any comments?

If you had an under bonnet fire I`d sooner have the extinguisher to hand as soon as the bonnet is opened, just a thought.

mine is in the passenger footwell...

I keep mine in the trough with no cage, fits nicely, can hardly be seen so doesn't intrude, and more importantly it can never interfere in situations of rapid deceleration!
