Filling the cooling system

I never thought I would be asking this question, but to hell with pride. Any know a simple way of filling the entire cooling system of an S2, I guess it requires some of the hoses being taken off, but which is the easiest. I have just had my rad re-cored £130 not bad, from a place in Taunton.

I fill mine through the swirl pot, leave the cap off and bleed the system using the bleed valve situated on the top of the radiator, run the engine and you can hear the air coming out of the valve, top up as required.

Same here and dont forget to top up the expansion tank when youve put the (dare I say it) pressure cap back on the swirl tank.

Is that the correct way round Clarence! if so it means I've got it on correctly and my loss of coolant half a mile from the Ace during London Thunder was just bad luck!!!!!

I think the answer was NO!

But seriously if you fit a Slashed back Weasel pump to the swirl pot it prevents your Klli Dilli from contracting thus avoiding a severe case of Galloping Piaka leading to Fogwust up the Urzilgerber. ( there are some who would argue that it should be fitted to the Expansion tank!, this is wrong and will only serve to give you the above problems and a burning desire to fit longer sticks on toffee apples)

Sorry allanbyrne, we seem to have hijacked your thread a bit here, but you will gather by now that there is an ongoing debate as to wether the pressure cap should be on the swirlpot and Blanking cap on the expansion tank, or the other way around.
Just in case your wondering what the hell were all on about.(Its just light hearted debate)

Bleed valve? What a plonker, I put my radiator in upsidedown, thought it was a drain valve! Have put rad clean in at the momenet, so when I drain it again I will correct it. Thanks

Your not a plonker , the Rad is off a van with an extra core started life the other way up so was in fact a drain !

All the imfo about filling the systym is correct but don't forget to run the engine with the heater on .
