Charging Light

Help....
Driving the S2 to work this morning the charging light came on and the voltmeter dipped down to 11v. Up to then everything had been fine, charging light had gone out as normal at 2500 rpm and voltmeter climbed nicely up to 12-13v.
Stopped and had a look, fan belt is still there and the alternator is still turning, can't see any leads that had come loose. Decided best thing would be to carry on and fix it at work.
Only problem I've left the bible at home (bedtime reading) so don't have any wiring diagrams.
Can anyone suggest where I should start to look, are there any fuses that could affect the charging circuit?

If the alternator has packed in, then you won't be able to drive too far before your battery goes flat. Depending on how far you've got to go home tonight, you may not make it without a spare battery. I would be tempted to call out a mobile sparky to take a look and if necessary, get a recon alternator fitted while your in a car park and not stuck by the side of the road somewhere.

Make sure you open the bonnet for them - unless you want a new boot release cable!
Good point, I still do that on occasion......closely followed by

- Happy again. RAC man came and tried swapping the diode pack and brushes to no effect, tested the wiring no problem. Replaced the connector on the back of the alternator as it was looking a bit flaky but no luck so pronounced the alternator dead. Have to say he was pretty good (ex ford man so knew the V6 pretty well) and didn't even talk about selling me a battery
Popped round to a reconditioners just now and they had one on the shelf so swapped it in their car park and hey presto - light goes out and volts go up.
Thanks everyone for the pointers.
