S2 idle speed valve

Can someone please tell me what its purpose is ! Thanks.

If it is clogged up with crap, how does that affect it ?

It allows varying amounts of air into the plenum, without the throttle moving,(air goes into it before the throttle and out of it on the engine side of the throttle) it is controlled by the ecu so is constantly moving and varying the air to create a stable tickover hence if it is sticking the idle becomes erratic.
I suppose it is an automatic tickover throttle if that makes sense.

I find it hard to beleive anything on that car of yours is dirty, you must have sucked a pigeon in by mistake

But isnt it just a pain when things dont run smoothly !
Or maybe thats the fun when it does work 100% again !
