I have a dream....... reality check needed please!

Hi guy's,

Looking for a bit of advice and reassurance on the following 'dream'.....

Now that I'm almost finished on sorting the garage out (after a couple of years on the house... ) just got my bench and shelving to sort this weekend , and then it's time to turn my attention to the neglected 'S'.

About to embark on a body off resto - but the thing is the last time attempted anything along these lines was about 13 years ago on my beetle! which never really got totally finished....

I'm quite prepared (mentally - possibly not financially) for the 'swiss cheese' out-riggers and trailing arms thanks to the recent threads.
Top work by all those involved by the way

Not been very good (read st) with a welder I'm looking at taking the chassis to an indy for the outrigger work - any ideas how much this would cost? (baring in mind I'll have done the hard work of taking the body off).

I know the trailing arm rebuild will be about £200 / side - so think that's OK.

Thinking about doing a brake upgrade as well - undecided as to which route to go down though. Ideally want a 'bolt-on' solution (currently have EBC grooved) with bigger discs etc. (will be replacing all flexible hose's with braided) Any recommendations?

Suspension will be replace (new springs and dampers - more than likely GAZ), but also will be looking at re-bushing the wishbones etc. - what's the best route to go down?

Stainless manifolds and de-cats will also be on the list - will probably go down the ACT route for these - do the lambda sensors just go back into the de-cat pipes?

Possibly looking at getting a roll bar fitted - is this something I could do or should I get it done by the pro's once I've got the body back on?

With regards to the chassis is there anything else I should be prepared for? - any major snaggs I should look out for?

What sort of chassis protection should I go for? - POR15 and hammerite or anything else thats been used?

Sorry for the long post, but all help, encouragement and advice would be appreciated.

When I do mine I will be using a process called Zinc Spraying which we have used in the past at work,It involves (pretty obviously) blasting the chassis and spraying with zinc, the process leaves a coating which has a higher Zinc content than Galvanising but doesnt put the chassis through the thermal stresses of the Hot Dipping that Galvanising does.
It can be painted over if you want to. I can supply details of a company in Manchester who will do the work, chassis would have to be bare as they are purely coating specialists.

PS, may be worth looking at the roll bar before doing the chassis in case you want to add any mountinng points before coating ,painting etc
