Handbrake not balanced

Anybody know how I blance the handbrake so i have equal tension on nearside and offside.Currently I have a very good nearside but the offside can be turned by hand by grabbing the disc,needs a good pull but its not right

So how do i balance them

Could be one of 4 things:

1. caliper or handbrake mechanism sticking on the "non-working" side - free up and grease.

2. sticking handbrake cable on the non-working side - again, free up and lubricate.

3. Sticking handbrake cable at the "compensator" where the 2 wheel cables join the single cable from the lever - free up and grease.

4. something else I can't think of.

Is that any help?

It's free as i can increase tension by hand

Been looking for this but cant find it,to many pies,best jack the car up some more

Right so you can move the handbrake mechanism by hand - does it then grip ok? if so it's a cable problem, probably no 3.

I have eaten so many savoury pastries that I'm thinking of buying a hydraulic ramp and/or digging a pit. Axle stands seem to be shrinking these days.

If i really pull the cable it grips solid,but I'll end up with arms like popeye,plus it will probably fail an mot

Thought these were self adjusting

They are. Adjust them yourself.
