New Owner in Luxembourg
Discussion
I'm a relatively new owner of an S1 (SA9DS28P5JB019480 original reg TVR 123S) living in Luxembourg.
First thing - really love the car, turns a lot of heads here as it is the only S and one of very few TVRs in the country. Noise of the engine and driving with the top-off day or night is great fun.
First offer - anyone passing through Luxembourg is more than welcome to come for a blast as there are some very interesting roads around here, scenery is great and the gendarmes really rather friendly.
First question - when idle the car revs very low (below 500RPM) is this usual?
Second question - we have various petrol choices here. I've been buying a product called Super, basically the replacement for leaded, is this the right thing to use?
Thanks for any help and look forward to meeting anyone who may pass by this way.

Andrew,
you should buy the so called "bible" for S-Series from Steve Heath, available @ the british TVR club. It's worth every cent, especially if there's no dealer in the country.
I can't answer your questions, as I owned a later S3C, whith the 2.9l engine, but ask Performance Cars in Dondelange. It's an official Ford and Morgan dealer. He likes and services Brit. Cars and can surely give you the right answer.
Good luck, and "calmos" when accelerating out of the bends...
If you haven't been to a trackday yet, do what I missed to do, at the Airbase in Bitburg for instance.

Hi Andrew V,
don´t borry or even think about having "potential" Troubles. You simply own a Ford Granada 2.8-2.9 "equiped" with the exteriour look of some "potential classic" cars that are well "known" f.e. TR 3-6, MGB`s (all Series excluding the "Gummiboote") an so on.
In fact: You own a very special car (which is a TVR - and therefore simply handcrafted), but it "owns" a simple Ford-Engine (f.e. Sierra/Granada 2.8 or 2.9 Litres). In Fact: All the Engines used by TVR (for the S-Models are as simple as always rebuildable (for low costs).
Simply just try to imagine, that those Ford-Cars (Capri, Granada, Sierra) still based on the same Engine, which was kind of an "unloved child"
, because it was probably to simple for a "real" sportscar.
Don`t think about "Specialists" and simply try to explain your local Ford-Dealer (f.e.) that you own a Grandada (looking like TVR - this may cost you an "upgrade" !).
The only Difference betweeen a Ford-Granada and a TVR S1 ist just the Fact, that the Mechanics HAVE to remove some Parts (z.B. complete Exhaust-System) to get Accesss to (f.e.) the Engine-Compartement).
So, try to find a good Mechanic who works for "his ideals" and not "just for the money". Otherwise you may be "****ed up", because the "Mechanics" understood, that you may be an "idiot" who "pays the Price".
It´s your own Deal, cause whith an S2 you own a Ford Granada in "nicer" Clothes.
