Rear light blue tint

Have been thinking about spraying my rear lights with a blue tint paint
As long as I do a thin coat will I get through an MOT?

Also, can I have to change the bulbs for brighter ones, is it a case of taking the old ones into Halfrauds and getting a higher wattage?

Looks like a better option than painting them yourself, at least you can then change them back if you don't like it.

(I assume you know TVR rear lights are escort mk4)

Their rear prices are cheap compared to the standard part that Ford quoted me £38 for EACH light!!
Another alternative is some spray on tint that you can get from Halfords etc. Not used it myself but seems to give good results. I'm sure I've seen one S in these pages (a red one I think) that had it's front indicators tinted this way and it looked great - given the lack of availability of these now I'd be reluctant to mess with them, but may be worth an experiment on some cheap Kia replacements....

Just looked at some of the prices in the links above - £100 a pair
The Nomad on line shop seems to be down at the moment. Can't remember the exact price from them but it was less than £40 per PAIR for the rears and about £10 per PAIR for the side repeaters

The Smoked ones look great... but not at that price... how many coats of the smoked spray from Halfrauds is required to get a good dark finish - but not too dark so you cant see the lights ?

nomad racing do them for £35.00 if you can catch them at a show (usally at national days ect for fords) the smoked repeaters are £6.00(show price) they always have stock and the quality of the lenses are great. I've had mine in nearly a year with no water leaking into the lenses or boot and they look great
