Any thoughts - Manual boot release bracket ?

The bracket on my boot release has broken, has anyone got any ideas for a fix or ideas on where to source a replacement? If not would it be easy to convert to the solenoid boot release?

I replaced the cable/ handle on mine, was from a ford escort. Maybe the same?? just a guess

Is this from under the steering column ?
Looks identical to a bonnet release I had on a sierra.
(I assume you meant bonnet not boot ?).
Might be worth popping along with it to your local ford garage, they will be able to look it up I'm sure.
Are there any part numbers on it ?

Hmm unfortunatly this is still beating me, the spare which keith kindly sent is slightly worn and won't pull the cable through effectively. I think I may have to go down the route of converting to the electrical button operated/servo opening mechanism on the later cars. Has anyone done this job? If so any advice ? also if someone could post some close up pics of the location of the button and how the lock mech attaches to the side of the boot that would be useful. Are the bits available still to do this?

as you can tell its been home made, I am waiting for it to arrive by post from my dad who made it, if it works I can ask him nicely for another one if you like...
