Spare or Cannister

Whats the concensus on this question ?

do I refit the skinny and hope that there is enough room for a wide filthy flatty or do I ditch it and carry a cannister and pump, saving loads of space and allowing earier access when storing the roof panels?

I was surprised to find no spare on board the missuses mini - just a bottle and compressor... so that says something I guess, andprobably shows which way I'm leaning at the moment.

any experiences ? any horror stories ?

The only time I ever used the space saver spare in anger was when I had a 180 spin on diesel, hitting the kerb with the rear offside wheel while rotating. The tyre burst and the wheel was wrecked. Since then, I carry a large plastic bag, big enough to take a wheel.

Hmmm... I suppose a cannister would not have been much use there then ?

Not unless it was about 20" diameter with holes for the studs.
