paint codes...

does anyone know where I can get a paint match?

just need a touch up pen or similar, called tvr & they gave me an independants number who still wont return my calls.

I know its a mercedes paint, dark metalic blue code P422 - B286B

any help appreciated

Try Halfords... they do touch up kits and keep most models paints. They also do matching if you have the correct codes - which it looks like you do...

called halfords...

trouble is, code P422 is only recognised on cars 2001 & newer, plus also its coming up as grey, red or blue.

they have kindly offered to try & match if I take the car there though which is supprisingly helpful

Have a look in the main TVR forum and look for posts refering to Gerbil - he was the paint shop manager @ TVR and has now set him self up in the paint business.

You may find a number for him in the main TVR forum or you could try emailing him via his profile on here.

Contact Nexa here. They took over the ICI Autocolor business, who used to supply TVR paint. When you give them your body-paint code, they will confirm colour and will also be able to let you know a supplier local to you who can mix up the colour you need in touch up, spray or can.

If you ring the above number, they will ask you to ring Customer Services 01449 771771.

A very helpful young lady told me that the colour of my car is a BMW colour called 'Saphire Blau' (I would have a guess and say that was German for Blue). They will give you your local stockist as 'baggiebird' said.

Lets now hope that the paint on the car does match the code!

Well, got the right colour in the end, Merc Nautilus blue, turns out it was 'user error', needed to rub a bit more dust off the body plate to read it correctly!!

Went to Hex Holdings in Leicester, paint specialist recommended by customer services, very helpful I must add, one of the counter guys came & had a look at the body code, felt a bit silly really as I had written it down wrong 2 weeks ago, before I knew it i had a bit made up ready & a crowd of paint mixers stood around my car wanting to hear it! (also wondering how I had managed to squeeze in a upvc window from b&q in the passenger side)

...so did oblige with a nice throaty get away.... he he he ....these cars are a pain in the arse sometimes, but they are great aren't they??!!
