Unable to engage gears
Discussion
The car has been laid up due to ongoing electrical problems for the past few months. Now that I have managed to find a good auto electrician to look at the car, put in a new battery started the car up, great, tried to engage 1st gear, not great. Can't engage any gears at all. Any one have any ideas ?.

Had this problem with mine recently.
The clutch friction plate had stuck to the flywheel/pressure plate so I couldn't get any gear with the engine running, but it went into gear when the engine wasn't.
In the end I started the car, and got somebody to push the car so that I could get it into first gear. I then kept the clutch pedal depressed and aggressively accelerated and decelerated until it freed itself after about 30 seconds. After that it was fine.
Make sure you do it on a clear road, and have a plan if it doesn't free itself.

As above but if you cant get a push, its worth putting it in 1st gear depress the clutch and turn it over on the starter, it should Kangaroo a bit then hopefully free off, just be carefull it doesnt fire up unless again as above, you have a clear road, getting it to kangaroo is the secret to freeing it off as it puts an on /off load on the clutch plate.

Pushed the car out of the garage and into the driveway and done what clarenceboddiger suggested and it work after two attempts. Then went for a quick blast to make sure everything was OK. Fingers crossed, take the car to the auto electricians on Monday and hopefully get the car sorted.
Cheers
