Dodgy Speedo V8S

I have a wierd one - the speedo doesn't work when the car is first started up. (Was fine last week).
Having driven a mile or so the speedo needle starts to twitch, then flickers up and down slowly at first, gradually increasing and eventually settles down and works fine.
My bet is on a dodgy connection on the gearbox, the car was previously kept outside and now I've got the car thoroughly dried out I seem to be getting a few minor electrical gremlins.
Just wondered if anyone had seen this before ??!!

Yup. I've had this since I bought the car. Sometimes it can go a month or so fine and dandy, stop completely, bounce around, only bounce around when accelerating hard and all sorts of other things.
I had the connections checked about a year ago I think but the symptom persisted. My car is now off the road after the sensor was changed but it turns out the sensor is faulty and am waiting for another from Rimmer Bros. Apparently they are the only place to get them, and they don't know if the ones they supply are 4 or 8 pulse.
Anyway... hope it's something simple like a loose connection.

Mine does this too- but only when it's been damp outside, or I've forgotten to cover the car in the garage, or if it's Tuesday.
Hasn't been as much of a problem since the sun came out though and normally sorts itself out after a mile or so.
I thought it was pretty much a case of TADTS.
Funnily enough, measured using a TomTom, the speedo on my V8S is much more accurate than either of our other boring cars.
Only when it's working, of course.
