S1 2.8 temperature sender - which one?

I'm having problems with the sender reading red all the time!
Which colour temperature sender should I replace with? (I think there are several different types/colours to choose - I have recently tried a new black one but the temp gauge still goes to red whilst only warming up)
The car isn't over heating, just giving the wrong reading.

Had similar many years ago when I changed mine and had to calibrate it.
Ended up needing a resistance in series with the sender to set the 90° point on the gauge.
IIRC (and as I said this was years ago....) the gauge needs to see about 4 volts at 90°. So I fitted a potentiometer in series with the sender. Waited for the fans to cut in and adjusted the pot to give 90° on the gauge. Then measured the resistance of the pot and fitted a fixed resistor of that value.
