V8S - water ingress?

I noticed this week that my passenger footwell carpet was wet, so took out carpet to dry it and tried to find source of water. On investigation I couldn't find any of 'usual' clues to passage of water into footwell. When putting car into the garage, I noticed, by light from the back door to garage, the variation in thickness of the fibreglass around the furthest bottom edge of the footwell. I'm now thinking that there are patches so thin that rain is making its way directly through the fibreglass into the footwell. Anyone suffered similar problem?

The main wiring loom enters just behind the wheel arch plus the wipers could leak

get someone to put hose on areas of car to where you think is coing from
you stay in car and watch for leaks
that is what i did and i found my leak

If you have the original footwell mats that are held in by plastic grommets, these wear and water gets in through the openings on the floor.

Thanks for all suggestions so far. Pies, where would you expect a wiper or wiring loom leak to make its route to the floor pan? I will check the wiring loom, I had similar cause on my old 350i. I sat in the car yesterday in the rain but couldn't see any drips or runs. I removed the grommets when I took the carpet out and while they do go right through the floor and out underneath the surrounding bits of carpet are perfectly dry. The source of water does seem to be coming from the lower front, all vertical carpets are perfectly dry.

I had water coming in where someone had drilled & grommeted a cable to the engine bay for the alarm.
It was a grommet on the horizontal bit just above the brake servo, water collected here and once above the level of the grommet dripped inside.
I discovered it by getting a very wet car sponge and dabbing it around the engine bay and giving it a good squeeze.

i had a similar problem and filled in the holes in the floor with grommets but it still happened. I then noticed that the rubber piping around the door frame had presumably contracted with time and had come away at the front lower part of the door frame. Realigning this has pretty much solved the problem.

If it is the wiring loom it will enter and possibly run under the carpet

The grommet for the wiring loom was a bit twisted. Have reseated it and applied a lot of sealant around it to the bodywork. It's a big grommet - is iit worth packing the space with sealant? Also cleaned out a couple of other holes and sealed the heater control into the bulkhead. Car has, unusually spent a couple of nights in the garage, so fingers crossed. The door trim had leaked on my drivers side in the past, even after replacing the door seal. I cured this by running a bead of sealant along the inside horizontal edge of the door (the water was running over edge of bonnet, into gap between bonnet and door, then ran down the inside of door onto the ill fitting door seal. The bead of sealant redirects the flow further forward onto the vertical part of the seal and away from the pucker where it bends.
