Oil Grade

Hi, what is the current recomended oil grade for an S1? Or more to the poit what are people using?

The Steve Heath book I've got (1st edn) says 15w50 for both the V6 engines but I use Millers 10w60 in the S3C (2.9 but should be about the same I assume) which is fully synthetic and holds the pressure really well even at tickover when v hot. Others will no doubt advise what they use as well.

Always used 15w/50 mobil 1 motorsport, readily avaliable from halfords.

ditto with the millers but running 10w 40... is really good and holds pressure a treat

Yes I used Millers 10-60 in my Griff and Chim, they always used a drop on the motorway, had a situation with an errant sump plug in Ireland and the Range Rover dealer refilled it with 10-40 semi, since which it hasnt used a drop, do the V6 tend to used more fully synth than semi too?

I've used both GTX and Duckhams in the S3C since I've had it and neither of those, or the Millers have been a problem re oil use as, even at now just over 100k, it uses non as far as I can tell. The Millers is however superior when its hot and does keep the pressure better. I've not tried the others so can't comment but no doubt most should be OK as well.
