High oil pressure!

Hi guys driving back from watching the tour de France in Canterbury last w-end my oil pressure gauge shot up to 100 and stayed there till I got home, next day I turned on the ignition and it goes up to 100 again with out even starting it!!
I popped a new pressure switch on and it didn’t make any difference, any other ideas guys? jonnyg

If the guage reads high without te motor running you have an electrical problem.
If the pressure switch has 1 wire to it then the switch supplies a varying resistance to earth depending on the actual pressure.
If the wire from the guage to the switch in the block finds an unrestricted path to earth before reaching the switch the guage will respond by reading its maximum reading.
pull the wire off the switch and check for continuety to earth using an ohm meter or test light]
