Removing radio

Need help in getting my radio out so I can replace a switch but need to move center consul. Looked at it and it needs those long metal strips u insert in the sides, which did not come with the car! Any tips would be appreciated its a pioneer cassette player original to the car I think.
Can you lift the centre console enough to get your fingers underneath to push the clips in?
(only 2 screws at back end of centre console and whole thing lifts - be careful not to pull air vent pipes off)
Failing that in the past I've used terminal screwdrivers in the holes, do one side with 2 screwdrivers then pull it out slightly that side then switch to the other side.
Cassette players aren't too bad as you can get your fingers in the cassette door to pull it forwards.
I have to say though it is far far easier to go to a motor factors and get the proper tool, they don't cost much.

PS Hope you got cheque for air filter OK.

Just changed the blower switch got the radio out ok and center consul back, one of the air vent tubes came off but got it back on ok. All electrics work fine. Not an easy job. But glad I got it sorted now all electrics working. Now only the wheels to sort and the respray. Also would like to change the carpet on parcel shelf as badly faded but that is something for another day.
What switch is it ?
Someone mentioned its from a TR7, is that true ?
Where did you get it from, Rimmer Brothers ?
I have to wiggle my switch to get the blower going, and the trouble is that the exhaust is so flaming loud I can never tell whether the blower has stopped running.
PS got air filter thanks, and even more of a bonus I nearly have the suspension back together!
