Tyre size, is 195/50/15 to small for an "S"

Hi all, Just been looking at a set of 195/50/R15 Yokohama Parada, would they be wrong for the car and would they just look to small? Cheers' Garry

I have that size under my impreza in winter, you would see the difference.

Good news is your speedo will look better, because the difference in diameter:
2*195*0.5 + 15*25.4 = 576 versus 2*205*0.6 + 15*25.4 =627 mm.
567/627 = 0.91. While my speedo happens to be quite good compared with tomtom speed.

We are allowed 5% error in NL.

You would also be likely to rip the exhaust systym off on a very regular basis ! 55 are best although I am looking at some 60's with stiff side walls to try and give a better ride height.

According to that the stock tyre is 24.7" dia and your proposed one is 22.7". That will lower the car by an inch...

Don't do it unless you are going to use them for track days only. 50 profile is too low on 15" IMHO.

Don't forget you have only got 50% of 195 as well -
std tyre is 60% of 205 so the narrower width only makes things worse !!!

Try the tyre calculator and this will prove it-

Insurance Co. may also use it as a 'get out' in the unfortunate circumstance of an accident unless you tell them of the modification which = more cost possibly!!!

The only route is to fit aftermarket wheels say 16" then use a lower profile rubber, but from your post this would not help.
