S3c Wing Mirror

Hi all any one got any ideas where i can ley my hands on a pair of the above wing mirrors?
They are what I have on my 1990 S3c.

don't know - wish I did, then my mirrors wouldn't look so bad.

I thought all S3c had the Citroen CX mirrors?? Praps a conversion could be on the cards?

no they hadn't - I've seen 3 with those mirrors, including mine - and you can't change to the CX ones, they are moulded into the doors

There is a range of other mirrors that might fit though, I'm looking into it (mirror - looking into it - oh never mind...)

Those mirrors are off of a TVR Wedge/Tasmin, heaven knows what the original donor car was though. Last years SCH had a trade stand where they had replacement shells for these mirrors, like a fool I didn`t take note though, maybe someone will shed some light on who was selling them.

Jackpot, thats the people, I saw the moulds and they seem quite cheap.

My Citroen CX jobbies come loose every so often....if only that little tw@ttin' grub screw was at the bottom I might be able to tighten them.

Paul - re the spinning door mirror problem - I saw on a recent forum that someone has (carefully!) drilled a small hole in the bottom of the mirror mounting, where you can get at it with the mirror in the correct position, and then put in another self tapper. Seems a good idea to me and should fix your problem!

Thanks Jim...A previous owner had already done this and your right it does hold the mirror more securely...unfortunately for me every time I put the car in the garage I have to fold my door mirror to clear the garage door frame...this eventually loosens the bloody thing....yes I know...bash the garage door wider...It's on the cards cos' a griff is even wider still.

I may be well off the mark here but I think I've read somewhere that some mirrors fitted to the S's came from a London Taxi ? I never really believed it but they would well be the ones ?

I had these on mine.

If you requested electric mirrors in 1989/1990 then these were all they had. They were from a wedge.

I have taken mine off & gave them away to a guy restoring his wedge.

They are too square for the retro look of the car. I would look at changing them

Mine is the photo that the OP used. When the bubbling gets to that stage, there's very little metal left underneath the plastic coating - trust me!

I bought another pair of mirrors with a base big enough (so I thought) to cover the distance between the screw holes. I took that mirror (well the one on the other side) off last week - and found that at some stage, the door has been lacquered with the mirror still in place.





This shows the base of the "new" mirror on the outline of the old one - apart from the edge of the lacquer that would need to be sanded down, the paint was showing as a completely different colour (I suspect because it had never had lacquer on it). Too much grief!

I put the old mirror back and am waiting for the arrival of two new backs from TET Mouldings.

They aren't the nicest mirrors in the world but they'll have to do until I ever decide to repaint the doors!

Hi

Have taken some extra photos of my mirrors, poor quality as I have to use my phone. You can also see them on Page 256 of Steve Heaths bible so they are an original option. The base is 8.5cm x 5cm, might cover up the problem area

Nope.

My mirrors are 90mm between the screws, the base is even bigger (as you see, the "new" base covers the 90 mm screw holes).
