Radar Detector ( Fitting).

Just bought a Road Angel for the tiv (V8S) and do'nt realy like the idea of having the cable lead down to the cig lighter and it sticking out by my left knee.

Any of you clever guys got a better solution?. Was looking at my hi-fi system and wondering if the single point plugs used for speaker ete, could be sourced / adapted to povide single socket in the dash may be to the side of heater controls.

Be aware I'am no electrical wizard, so it may be a visit to my local auto-electrical outlet

Aside from the power supply problem...sticking my Satnav suction mount on the windscreen is no good cos' the windscreen vibrates so much when travelling down bumpy roads I can't read it...the gatso alarm is useful though.
Also...the speed differential between the Satnav and the speedo is enormous...Satnav shows 40mph...speedo shows 60mph...waa!!! and I thought I wuz really motorin'....

Looked into this as well. If you go for a connector (plug and socket of some type) in the centre of the gearbox tunnel console, it will need to be quite shallow. If you undo the screws at the end of the console (behind the seats) and ease it up, you'll see there isn't a lot of room - especially by the time you've got a radio in there as well. Not saying it cannot be done but I opted for moving the existing cigarette lighter socket to the passenger side. This has the advantage of keeping the industry standard connector for car acessories plus it wasn't that hard! The cut-out is already there on the passenger side, just needs the top layer trimming to access the hole (did this from inside out). The wires reached after a bit of routing around the centre rotary knobs. Took about an hour without any and with a !

You can't hard wire the road angel in without a cigarette lighter socket, or at least last time I looked (last year). There are some lectronic gubbins in the road angel connector.

I added a second socket on a trailing wire and tucked it behind the side panel, beside the radio on my old S2.

That's the solution I've used in my blandmobile - I bought a 4 way adaptor & cut the ciggy plug off & wired it in.
I secured it under the dash out the way with cable ties.

Good idea! I've just done approximately 850 miles through Europe and back with the TomTom cable hampering my gear changes.
