griff/chim roof stays

got a set of griff/chim roof stays on ebay
just fitted them. what a difference they make
car looks cleaner , and you can see them now

Hi,
I'd like to swap my roof stays for the Chim aluminium ones. A search brought this old post up. Can anyone confirm if they are a straight swap or if modification is easy enough?

Think you need to make new holes as the ally stays are slightly longer (only by about 5mm though)

Would love to do the same thing but simply can't justify the £120 that they seem to go for.

You do need to make new holes as they are longer.
I am sure it is somewhere on here exactly how much lower down the holes need to be, can't find it at the moment.
I am sure someone will be along with the measurement, in the meantime, I will continue looking.

i put the top bolt in 1st then
put stays in roof closed ,then drilled holes
took 30 mins per side
well worth the £1OO on ebay
make the car look a lot cleaner at back window

i have early s1 and fitted ally stays 2 years ago, they were straight swap as the guy at gatwick tvr told me they would be, just wondering if the chim and griff are the same,or if one is slightly different pitch to the other
