I've heard people mention car covers that just cover the cabin on here before (car caps?) Can anyone tell me where I'd buy one from?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Dern

I have ordered a car cap from Leven Technology (actually thru TVRCC as they get a little commission out of it for no extra cost to me). I checked out other 'caps' and asked around, but the TVRCC secretary has one on her S1 and swears it's the only one that keeps 100% dry. So I should have the cap shortly and will let you know what it's like.

It's £150 but it should last forever, and I know I would get lazy with a full cover, and I want to look after the hood.

Must say I'm impressed with my S though - had it just over a week, and it has been under several heavy drenchings, including one along the M11 yesterday, and it doesn't leak! (I come back to find a slight damp smell after leaving it standing, but cannot find any wet patches inside at all.)

I've got a Leven hood cover and can't fault it. My car only seems to leak when stationary and the carpets behind the driver's seat get sodden. Not any more (assuming I remember to put it on!).

Ah, thanks for all the replies but I didn't explain myself fully...

I don't have my S3 any more and I bought a Westfield this weekend. I was looking for the car cap that just covered the roof bit and didn't want anything tailored to the 'S' (ie expensive ) and had heard people mention caps from Argos but haven't been able to find them on the argos site. I just wondered if anyone knew any where else I could get one from without spending a shed load of money.

Thanks,

Mark

I saw an 'S' go by at the Stanstead junction - I was in my Westfield on the hard shoulder just 2 hours after picking it up for the first time (broken throttle cable)

Mark,
Try Halfords they have some lightweight car caps which some others on the S thread have used, I am going to try one on the S3, at less than £10 its worth it.
Glad to hear you have got a new toy, keep it shiny side up!!

well at least you are used to a car where the throttle cable goes regularly

Argos do sell 2 or 3 different covers. They are cheap as chips and sound the same as those in Halfords. I just popped into Argos and picked up a roof only cover - IIRC it was about a fiver.

Mark, it looks superb
see you have it on full lock
sneeze and you spin it 180 degrees
two sneezes for a complete 360

Having raced a Lotus 7 I know you'll have great fun with it.

Thank you, it's a great car.

Need some smaller headlights though, from the chair it looks like you're driving mickey mouse

Unless you saw me coming from the other direction, then it might have looked like this!

Thanks for the tip re: the boot Podie - previous owner also mentioned, but drains are clear for now.

I'm sorry guys

The pictures above seem to have disappeared. I followed the instructions and stuck them on Webshots, and copied them to the above posts, and only one would stay on, now both have gone.

What am I doing wrong?

PS - 4 piccies of my new pride and joy on my profile if you want to see them!

Webshots may not let you link to the pictures from other sites and the link in your profile only works if you're logged on as you (iyswim) so you can probably see them but we can't.

I think.

Received my Leven car cap in the post yesterday. Inside material feels soft and brushed like outside of roof panels. Outside is leather-look. All black (not grey as advertised) and looks like it's worth the horrendous £150!

Took me a couple of minutes to fit, but reckon second time it will take 30secs!

You tuck an under-flap through the boot lid, shut the boot and the rear of the cover sits over the front edge of the lid. Pull tight (fits to shape well) and tuck second under-flap under (pulled) bonnet, and shut bonnet onto flap. Again, front of cover overlaps onto rear of bonnet. Two buckle straps clip (quick release jobbies like on yer rucksack etc) under the mirrors, et voila!

Found damp carpet under driver's seat, so looks like cap will be useful, as well as stopping hood fade from sunlight.

Gets a thumbs up then!
