S3 Dashboard renewal

I am looking to replace my dashboard. Any advice on removal please. Also, i have had a quote of £400 to veneer all bits but does anyone have any other contacts suggestions? I am toying with the idea of a an alloy finish as the side strips rub down nicely i've seen. Opinions and comments most welcome.

There are already a number of threads on here regarding dashboard removal. Do a search and it will bring them up. Regards the cost you are talking that is massively over the top. If you remove the dash yourself then you could get it re-veneered for less than £100 easily. I have even heard of people going to furniture people to get the veneered for about £40-50. The dash is metal underneath but sadly not the same as the door inserts, the ones I have seen have a swirled metal effect. Alloy dashes have been done though.

I cant tell what type of dash you have now but my S3 (not the sweeping dash) has Ambla instead of veneer or Aluminium (I dont like the aluminium finish even on modern cars sorry...) it looks good and can be done in contrasting colour as an alternative and is quick and cheap to do well.

I assume tinks that the price was just for the veneering (panel and switch panel as well?) and excluded the fitment?
