It Passed !!!!!!

My little beauty passed the dreaded MOT this morning with no advisories EEEEYYYYHAAAAA !!!!!

always good to get that out of the way for another year...

good news with the MOT - one thing out of the way at least.

had mine out in the most awful weather yesterday as we went to BT&P at Whittlebury Hall on Saturday and stayed over. Not sure which was worse - the constant battle with misting up, the weather, dodging the HUGE amount of standing water or going through a flood with it

Car was a star though and gamely battled on......even through the flood, just thankful it didn't snow till last night.

Tell you what, I'll borrow yours for a couple of months to see if I can figure out what the problem is eh ? You can use your "Other" car in the meantime
Why dont you get Mechanic Geoff to have a look at it... he's been very quiet recently...

I thought we agreed we don't talk about the dark side other car - Geoff was at my place last weekend in the S for a quick roof fix but stated he was only halfway through the ignition system on his course so didn't want to pass judgement at this point great news on your MOT mate - quick question for you though if you don't mind - when you set your timing did you put the ECU in service mode ???

Now how would I do that ? you havent shown me how to use my tester yet

I read about doing that but didnt have the tester then so ... thats one of the reasons I got the tester but as you know never got around to doing anything with it as things were OK by then and sleeping dogs came to mind...

Well I have been through the instructions back to front and your tester is coming out of the box this weekend mate so I will let you know whats what - I am not sure if it will pick anything up from the ECU tho as there is nothing left to change - I have done dizzy cap/ rotor arm/ plugs / leads/TPS / MAF meters and cleaned the ISCV - so I'm stumped - If it turns out to be the timing I am gonna give myself a giant kick up the ass.

Interestingly I had an intermittent misfire on the V8 - not a full on misfire just like there was something missing at times. I recently bought a range rover V8 manual and it has in there a specific way of routing the ignition leads otherwise it says it can cause misfires, presumably by inducing a spark in another lead.
I rearranged my leads like it said and the problem has gone.
Its a long shot but might be worth a go.

I can attest a V8S in the snow is great fun...... for about 30 seconds
