Finally got the new air filters for the Weber carbs, and have been able to junk the old ITG unit. The reason for this was the bonnet fouled the ITG filter body and gave me a heartstopping moment over at Folembray when we discovered bits of broken filter mesh wire lying around the carb trumpets and a mysterious misfire!

The new Filters are from RamFlo, and appear to be v. well put together.

pics here

If any body else is trying this route, my advice would be stay with injection!

Cheers

Graham

Very nice! I tried to look at the other photos but they wouldn't load full size (crap connection at home). Have you modified the bonnet to get everything to fit?

Yes, we had to cut a hole and graft on a scoop to clear the carbs/filter. Unfortunately neither the S1/2 or V8S bonnet has the bulge on the centre line or could have swapped. Even tried a Tuscan Racer bonnet, but that would have needed huge amounts of modding to fit

Hope it doesn't look too 'maxpower' but at least there is something under it

Cheers

I dont seem to be able to bring the other pics up! I want to see what the 'hump' looks like as I`m considering having this conversion in perhaps a year or two. Gotta save up first!!!

Rozza - here you go mate

dont think its too dissimilar to the lump on the non-V8 cars anyway.(and yes I know the later S3/S4 cars shared the V8 style bonnet!)

Graham - the car looks lovely mate - you have my mobile number - give me a bell next time you are down the sailor as I would love to have a good look at it and a chat about costs....

Thanks Guys, I'm pretty pleased with the end result.

David you'll wear those photos out if we keep linking to them.

Phil, just been planning to meet up with Mungo at the Jolly one night next week. I'll give you a call on Monday to see if you can make it.

Cheers

Well Phil's was just a red square, but now I can see it, much nicer than my static ones.

Think Shnozz is thinking of the S4 bonnet with no hump but little "chimaera" style vents down the side.. I think Podie's got one on his S3 ?

Cheers
Matt.

my humblest apologies. i thought the later bonnet with vents down the side was the same as the V8S bonnet.

Nah mate... V8 bonnet has a hump... think it's refered to as the "reverse hump" in the bible...
