Inner door handle cable

Help! Removing the door trim and the inner handle cable has snapped at the lock end. Does any one know whether there is a replacement or will I have to try and repair what ive got?

Been a few years since I had to look in there, but as far as I can remember it looks like a bit of piano wire and should be easy enough to replace.

Apparently the Chimaera heater cables are a good replacement to do the job - should be able to get from your local dealer/indie.

Hi!
Failing all the above get an old wire coat hanger, trim to length and connect up!
Had my drivers side bust some years ago just as I was getting off the ferry in Ireland - looked a bit uncool having to let myself out via the external handle.
My repair was working right up until I sold my V8S.

When working on the door lock, the cable from the inner release came off. It is a heater type solid cable in a sheath. The inner cable is bent round into a large hook at the lock end, and this hooks through a loop in the lock mechanism. The outer sheath is not secured to anything at the lock end.

It took me hours with a torch and mirror to work this out.

A heater control cable of suitable length would probably be OK for replacement.

If you get stuck for a suitable rod, try a local model shop they usually have a good selection of small dia steel rods.

Im going to try and use a stainless steel cable from a bike. seen one at Halfords which was pretty thick and figured one end has the lead stop for the door handle and the other end I can loop around and fasten. Keeping the adjustable outer cable to ensure I can tension it correctly.
