Differential Rear Support - what was it from?

Got the body off and have noticed that the rear differential support rubber is cracked all the way round. Replacement only option, but alternative parts list only refers to it as Sierra? Anyone got any idea what it was from as I don't fancy the TVR Car Parts price of £42+vat unless I have to for a simple U shaped bit of metal with a rubber insert.

got mine from a ford dealers took the part in and it seems to be a gearbox mount for a granada i think

Cheers, you wouldn't have your receipt with a part number on would you? If you have I'll buy one and then send in an update for the alternative parts list

Hi there i had the same problem. I managed to get one from my local ford dealers. part no is-F1640414 on my receipt its described as an insulator assy.That was the good news, bad news is this was 19/03/2005 and it cost me £35.80 plus vat=£42.07 not too far away from TVR carparts. Good luck Tom.

I tried to get one last year from Fords, they were none in stock any where.
I ended up getting one from a scrap yard that was in better condition than mine.

You are correct, tried Ford Global with the part no. and they replied on a Saturday Evening within one hour of question!!!!! They stated the part was obsolete and they had checked the national parts register of obsolete parts on shelf but that no-one held one. This checks all main dealers apparently so only independents might possibly have one. Therefore scrap yard or TVR carparts only option, will call into Collumpton later this week if necessary but want to take your scrap yard route first, therefore do you know what vehicle it was it off and what it supported, advice seems to vary between Sierra differential and granada gearbox.

You make me laugh .. you'd happily go to a scrap yard for secondhand item than pay just over 40 quid plus vat for a new one from a brilliant TVR indie parts supplier? I don't understand that at all!

It's the distance - not the dosh!!! and in my experience to date they often advertise these type of items, but don't have them on the shelf. For example petrol tank seals and locking rings, but I will be checking on Monday!!!

Fair enough if it's not in stock to go the scrapper route, but it just seems silly to not go for a new version if it's available whilst the body is off, that's the bit i was struggling with. Also do they not deliver parcels where you live?

Don't disagree, but I live at that distance where you look at the delivery charge and think I'll be passing in the next month or so so why not wait and get it then. If I lived at the other end of the country (or if I needed a lot of items) I would go for delivery straight away. Also I will only buy a second hand unit if it is in tip top condition but I have a good scrap dealers close that I have used for many items before so it's always worth a try.

It is the sierra rear diff mount that you want, it needs to be the one from the sierra, the Granada mount has the four top bolt holes in a different place.
Presume you do mean the part that TVR Car Parts are calling "Differential rear Support" ?

Needn't have worried, was passing collumpton today so stopped to see if TVR carparts had the rear diff support. They had four of these parts no longer made and only charged me £31+vat (and I did tell them that was less than the internet listing price prior to the sale). Therefore my previous lack of luck with obsolete parts was well and truly outdone by this today.

Well done TVR Car Parts my faith restored.
