Was tinkering around with the S over the weekend... and trying various roof panel entry / exit / siting type things...

Ended up with the drivers panel in first, then the passengers on top of that...

Now... found that the drivers panel (which is slightly smaller) will sit on a lip towards the number plate end of the boot... but couldn't find a way to get the passenger lid (larger one) in as well...

Have I missed something? Is there another way to store the panels?

I just use what I assume is the 'standard' configuration i.e. driver's panel in the boot first with the centre edge in the bottom rear of the boot, the middle of the panel resting along the edge of the shelf (inside of the panel downwards), and the outer (curved) edge of the panel pointing towards the drivers head, as it were. The passenger's panel then goes on top of the driver's panel in the same configuration.

If I'm off to work, the laptop then goes on top of the passenger panel with my lunch next to it.

I'd be interested to know if there's a better way.

Hmm... drivers panel in first, then passenger panel on top... but in the same orientation as if they were on to the roof...!

Drivers panel, then passenger one the other way up so the curves match each other.. thats what worked for me.

Cheers
Matt.

I put mine in driver's side first, with the leading edge at the bottom of the boot, and then the passenger lid, againg with leading edge down. You mean there's a better way? It's all a bit "Krypton Factor" for me....

I tend to stand about ten yards behind the car with boot open and throw them into the boot frisbee style ... I keep getting small cracks in the GRP around the boot. Any idea why?

In reality I go with the RichardR variation on the theme.

I agree with the RichardR technique, and have discovered that the tent also fits underneath them when required for Le Mans/PistonFest type trips.

Agree that the drivers panel in first is logical, but not always obvious whether the front goes to the front or NS/OS rear and that loads of luggage can go underneath and some on top when stowed.
When I carefully packed the roof away the night before catching the early morning ferry to Le Mans the last thing I wanted was a customs man wanting to search the car before getting on the fery . I kid you not he would not believe me that it would take ages to put it all back , so the queue for the other cars they wanted to search just stayed there until they had to let them go without searching them because time was pressing on .
You've all missed out on the alternative, summer mode is leave roof in the garage .

I put the drivers side panel in with the rounded door side in the lower well angled towards the front. The passenger side panel goes in the same orientation with the door side down, this seems to work well.
