Only 2 months into the ownership of my S3C so it's just been a matter of a few icy blasts so far. This site has been invaluable as a means of choosing my car (special thanks to previous owner Doddse) and as a brilliant source of information.
So here's to a Merry Christmas to you all and I look forward to meeting up with some of you guys once the New Year rolls in and the sun re-appears.

I'd also like to second what moffspeed says about this being an invaluable site; the amount of information on hand is superb. Isn't the internet fantastic for this sort of thing? ~ the amount of pooled knowledge is terrific. Many thanks to all who contribute, I'm afraid I take more than I give in this respect. Hopefully as I learn I'll be able to pass on more hints.
BTW, Ketvrin, you've been spotted! ~ my son saw a "nice looking TVR" in Haydon Bridge earlier this week.From his desciption of it and the driver it was you.
Takw it easy ~ my road's been like a skating rink for a couple of weeks.

Hi Tim... That would have been me on Friday morning... great drive around the lanes up to Bellingham and back along the Military... the weather was great but the roads were covered in a black slime which of course was all over the Tiv... never mind, two hours drive = one hour cleaning... I was supposed to be starting a mini strip down for some work, but I thought, "I'll be a long time dead and the sun is shining" so that was the end of the spannerwork Takw it easy ~ my road's been like a skating rink for a couple of weeks.

Thought of Chris spannering away in his garage in the gloom at this time of year reminded me of one of my sillier mistakes. Some years ago the head gasket went on my everyday drive, so off with the head and got a new gasket. Having carefully cleaned everything I assembled the gasket/head and torqued it all down, adjusted the valves etc and then started to connect all the bits and pieces - BUT - oh dear the wire to the temperature sender was between the head and block 
The wire had been tucked away but must have been knocked in my haste to finish it that night and flicked under the gasket when I was putting the head back on and in the poor light I hadn't noticed so despite my haste I didn't finish in time to get to the pub after all. Off with the head again, new gasket the following day etc ... doh!!
There must be a moral there somewhere ... the only dubious benefit was that I did it faster the following day after all I'd had the practice!

Good bits - bad bits
Got my refurbed dash back from Chapman and Cliff - FANTASTIC - Just got to get the flippin electric mirrors working.
Got my green bulb paint for the dash illumination - Just got to get some kind of refurb on the heater slider controls
Got all the bits for the window channels in the door - Just got to figure out how to attach the window seal on the outside.
Wow it just goes on and on. Not had as much fun for years!! Just hope I can get it ready for the Spring
