Has anyone got a spare anti roll bar ?

Hi

Sorry to all this is a repeat question one last try before having to buy new.

I am trying to get an front anti roll bar assembly for the lower wish bones -

I have rang:

Bell hill in Bath - no S3's broken for at least a year - not much left

Douglas Valley - no anti roll bars and asked what they had - you never know -
Answer - I really cant be bothered to look (thanks)

Any clues from anyone where I may find one ?

It was still there early nov and they said they were keeping it for a while, it is obviously poor condition but if the Anti Roll bar is the same it could be cleaned up.

Sorry, no I don't but I can't help wondering why you don't have one. Natural assumption is that it was removed when the cossie conversion was done, it might be worth trying to track down whoever did that - you never know they may still have it in the corner of their garage.

It could have been left off because it didn't fit with the new engine in of course. There have been a few other cossie conversions mentioned on here from time to time so it may be worth doing a search and mailing the people who did them to see if they had any problems with it.

If that doesn't get you any further ahead I'd be inclined to wait until you have the engine back in to check yourself whether the original ARB will fit. If you decide to do that I could measure up and provide you with some dimensions.

If you can't track down the original part a scrappy may be the only option but be prepared to visit. I doubt whether they see an ARB as a worth recovering, they don't break or rot so theres unlikely to be demand for spares. The saddle clamps and bushes that secure it to the chassis are Ford parts. Not so sure about the ARB itself though, I had a quick check of the pictures on ebay and none of the Sierra ones look close to whats in mine so it may be that you'll have to source a genuine S3 part.

I can't remember which is which but I know there are 3 different diameters, S1, V8S and all other s's I think are the 3 different types. I'd be inclined to get anything you can as a pattern. even if you get the rusty one at the breakers you could get it shot blasted and then see how it looks.

Hi all - thanks for the replies - I have tried contacting the previous owner without success. I will keep looking for one. I need to investigate why there is not one. Which I cant do at the moment - as the car is a unassembled. Getting one bent up is not a problem - I deal with a couple of companies with pull, turn, bent machines and could measure one up, could anyone take a photo of what one looks like so I can get a general idea ?

Thanks for that ken - any chance of a photo of the drop links to the wishbone connection - absolutly no hurry - I need to work out if my sump is a problem, so I cant do much for at least a month.

Hi all,

thanks for the pics ken - I think I have found a ARB at TVR in Devon, so I will need some drop links - they also did a cosworth conversion and there where no issues with the sump. The rear sus brackets are being collected by TVR devon tomorrow, therefore welding we be completed by end of next week.

Then off to shotblast again - the first shotblash revealed 5 more areas(not holed but look thin, which will be welded up) then off to painting.
