According to TVRSSeries.com "[the] Suspension was uprated significantly giving a much better ride" at series 3 and IIRC Petrolted's guide mentioned some changes from S1 to 2 as well.

Does anyone know exactly what was changed? Is it a fundamental geometry change (mounting point locations...) or is it setup (spring rates or any adjustable geometry)?

I would immagine most of these cars have done 70,000+ miles and are onto their second set of (probably adjustable) shocks and springs by now, so if it's just the damper spec it probably doesn't make a huge ammount of difference.

edited because rather worryingly I can't write

The leverage point on the rear swing arms (the shock absorber bolt position) gets changed and spring ratings get changed to suit.

Adrian, is this the change that came in around the time of the introduction of the S2? If so, is there any way I can tell whether my S1.5 has the early or later arms (I was told when I bought it that it had the later ones - but I am not convinced)

And if that came in at S2. What were the changes they made for S3?

Can't see myself having a chance at S4C ownership, so I won't ask about those. biggrin

S1, S1.5, S2. evolve as the same basic item moving the point forward, S3 come as an S2 but the arm comes with a shim system which allows tracking adjustment, (which can be made by shimming the bearing housing on the earlier versions). the S3 version is a pain to build back onto the car when the adjuster bolts are done up! and S4 is as the V8S which has adjuster and wider track. The versions are visable different, by the type of cross bracket that supports the shock point, but then only if you know the differences in the first place!
As for assuming that the shock will have been changed since new...this is TVR's you are talking about, IF an S1-S2 has S3 arms on it then it will of had to change for either S3 OE setup or after market unit, as the standard setup will push the ride height up way too far at the back.

Thanks for the info Adrian.
It is all a little bit clearer now and accounts for why different spring lengths are needed for the various models - even though AVO only list one suspension unit for all S's!
