Does anyone know where I can get a new switch for the electric window. I am pretty sure its the switch as its been getting "dodgy" for a while.

Swap the switches over, and see if this solves the problem.

Not the passenger side one is it?

Try swapping them, and see if the problem moves.

Direct replacements are hard to find, but I understand that old Alfa Romeo ones fit. Do a search in the archives...

Will try swapping them over at lunchtime when I also will have to refix the rear view mirror, which dropped off last night. The joys of TVR ownership, worth it though!

I managed to find exact replacements at my local motor factors in the electrical bits section.

i.e. where you find the spade terminals and radio harnesses etc.

Around £5 each IIRC

Well, just wasted my lunchtime swapping the switches - no joy, its not the switch. Anyone got any bright ideas?

You need to take the door panel off - search earlier threads if you are not sure how this is done. Equally, you can try searching for postings on the window problem.

You then need to trace the wiring to the motor to ensure that any connectors or joins are OK and all earthing is fine. Check for voltage at the motor with a meter.

Just because nothing happens when you press the switch does not automatically mean the switch is faulty.

True, but it's worth changing the switch first, as that is a quick(ish) simple job - rather than removing a door panel which is a real pain in the A** (and on the hands!)

Heard the problem is often the motor giving up the ghost - same problem with mine.

Had the door trim off (without any problems or scratched knuckles!) checked all the connections - all ok but forgot to bring the multi-meter back from work Doh! Still doesn't work.

I suppose it's a bit stupid to ask if you checked the fuse?

I have had window trouble ever since I acquired the car 2 yrs ago.
I recently took out the electric motor and found out it worked perfectly on the workbench (both directions)
Put it back into the car (who's complaining you sissies) and it worked till the window was up. then it wouldn't come down again.
Where can I source a new motor.

Sounds like the problem might be moving the glass in the window frame then...

Guess what? mine has suddenly started working again! Must be either a bad connection or a frayed wired somewhere. I will investigate this weekend when I have time.
