V6 S Seat Belts

I wish to change the seat belt buckle for a shorter one because it is uncomfortable to wear as it is too high up and digs me in the ribs. I remember reading somewhere about a replacement that you can get from a donor vehicle in the scrap yard that is shorter! the question is what was that donor car ?
Does anybody know?

Has anybody actually done that recently? I tried it and the stalk was for a slightly larger seat belt clip than mine and they wouldn't work together.

One of my belts is a little dodgy and might be marginal at MOT. Has anybody sourced from a more modern car (and therefore available at breakers) an inertia reel seatbelt which would be a suitable replacement?

I was looking for alternative seatbelts/stalks a while back and I don't recall the 307 being the recommended source for stalks. I might be wrong of course but I thought it was a different model, Peugeot still though.

I bought new Securon belts in the end, they recommend their 500/30 model for the S, but they have 30cm stalks and will stick up just as far as the originals. I got the model 500/15, these ones have shorter 15cm stalks and seem to fit pretty well. The stalks are flat bar rather than the bendy cable type and the buckle is hard up against the transmission tunnel, which means that you can only get to the top release button. I guess I could turn them round but then the release buttons will then be masked by the belt. They haven't been on long so I'm still thinking about the best arrangement.

The Securon listings might be a useful reference if you want to go the scrappy route, just check which cars the 500/15 is recommended for.

Watch for siezed/corroded bolts if you do decide to change belts or stalks, mine were a real sod to get out and trying to extract a sheared one from the outrigger mount is a pig of a job.

I'm not sure that secondhand seat belts are a good idea.

I had mine replaced by Quickfit Safety Belt Service many years ago.

The replacement set up has no stalk and the reel works much better than the original.

I wonder where the ref to Peugeot 307 came from in the parts list then? They are also mentioned in an earlier thread I found so presumably someone must have made it work? I suppose there is every possibility that TVR changed belts at some time but certainly the belts on my 1988 car wont fit the 307. I've tried quite a few other cars at the breakers with no success. Someone out there must have found a source surely!

Thanks for that Chris, if I am stuck I will get on to them. Incidentally, the 306 stalk doesn't work either. I think all the Peugeots of the same general era are the same, I certainly tried quite a few!

What I have done to try and solve the problem is I've made a template from hardboard exactly the same size as
the connector on my S3 and when I get time I am going to the local scrapyard and try everything and see which car's buckle my template will fit into, it is easier than removing the whole seatbelt and taking that to the scrapyard. I will let you know if I get anywhere !!!!

Hi fellas, I fitted peugeot 306 stalks to my S in November 2007, that`s what I was told they were, they are a flat steel section and not the flimsy cable type stalks.
