Plenum to AFM hose

I need a new hose for the plenum to AFM. The standard RangeRover hose is too long, and I dont want to relocate the AFM. Anybody suggest an alternative.

I used a concertina rubber hose from a Jaguar for a while, sorry I don't remember which one it was from. You could just fit a silicon hose (there's yards of the stuff on mine now). As long as the engine mounts are OK you don't need very much flexibility. (If an engine mount fails you might notice that the engine pulls the hose off as it climbs out of the engine bay.)

Pete, can you let me know how you get on. Mine is also sarting to go on both sides of the AFM. I was just planning on using basic piping, the one on the e-bay link looks way too long to me?

It is too long, I measured one at my local Landrover supplier, they are approx 150mm fully compressed, I need it to be a max of 120mm. Looks like I may try silicone pipe. It will need to be 80mm ID, preferably with a "hump" in the middle to allow for engine movement.

Any other suggestions most gratefully received

I assume this may need to be quite substantial to prevent heat soak?

I am also trying to source both sides now, the one to the airfilter tunnel now has holes in!! Nothing duct tape cant fix temporarily.

Any more help on this appreciated.

You may find when you are, ahem, 'testing' the car that under load the dodgy hose to the air filter tunnel may suck itself flatter and restrict the air intake.

I think I'd be tempted to go for a silicon hose myself.
I still have the original one.

I have the Venair hose fitted from the AFM to air filter tunnel. It will not suck flat and dosent look too bad once on, the only problem is its only thin and does not tighten up so good against the metal housing of the tunel or the AFM, so I havent used it to run from AFM to Plenum. Looks like ill buy a length of 80mm silicone hose.

Just a bit of an update on this one, I've just come off the phone to Dan @ Viper performace: 0845 0953 423. He makes Hump hoses 80mm dia x 100mm long. I'm going to see if I can get away with this length but if not he will make bespoke hoses, he says the extra silicone is peanuts for 20mm longer and wont charge but he does charge £25 to alter the machines to make them. He happy to split this for a group buy so does anyone fancy joining me if the 100mm do not fit?
