V8S Owners Help - Fuel tank venting

I'm hoping you can help. Could anyone tell me how your fuel tank is vented. With an ECU change coming up with the Griffith I intend to rip out the carbon cannister and purge valve used ot vent the tank on a Griffith/Chimaera.

I'm making an assumption that the V8S's did not run a carbon cannister and that the fuel tank would have to be vented somehow, most likely to atmosphere.

I wondered whether you could tell how and where to ?

Mines a pre cat and I'll be in the garage again later, I'll have a look.
I think its as simple as a tube from the top of the filler neck down to the ground, but I'll confirm.

Thanks guys. Am i right in assuming it is a straight drop down, no filter of U bend, and straight atmosphere into the wheel arch ?

The pre-cat V8S has a vented fuel filler cap.

The very last few cars had what is essentially a 4.0 Chimaera spec cat engine. For these the fuel filler cap vent was sealed over (looks as if they used a smear of Araldite) and a separate vent was added via a carbon cannister.

Edit: the pre-cat cars are also prone to fuel spilling on long corners when the tank is full, because it just dribbles out via the vent.

So that's why I dumped a load of fuel on the floor when I filled up just before the drag racing in Devon.

Do you know if the purge valve is ECU controlled or another way ?
