Might be a daft question, but does anyone know if S3 ancillories (like radiator for instance) will fit straight into an S1 (89)?

Depends on the ancillary.

Radiator should fit, fan won't (the S1 fan sucks air through from behind, the S3 fan blows it through from in front). Most engine parts won't. Suspension & cooling parts probably will.

Haha ! but these are TVR's remember? my S3 has a fan that sucks not blows

I traveled to Douglas Valley a couple of months ago to have a look for some parts of the same car, there was very little left of it at that time. Chassis, bonnet, engine, running gear had all gone. The car is outside with no roof so as you can imagine the interior is trashed, and is full of rusting rotting bits of car.

Any good radiator repairer should be able to rebuild your existing rad.
Mine needs doing and I considered trying to bodge it - but I thought that for what it could cost if my car lost water and I failed to notice and then the engine went pop it would cost far more.
I've seen costs quoted to rebuild a V8 radiator as £100-£200.
Thats another item on my long and growing list.......

Have just had my radiator refurbed with a new core, £190 at Walkers radiators Kelbrook, Lancashire. Took them two days, they seem to have done a good job. A point to consider if you have overheating problems or want to avoid them is that when they removed the tanks fron the old core one of the tanks was about a third ful of solidified gunge. No amount of back flushing would have cleared this and it was effectivley reducing the radiators cooling capacity by a third.
