Clutch master cylinder

I have just fitted a new set of seals on my S3c clutch master cylinder as it was leaking. the problem i now have is that when i try and bleed the system nothing comes out at all, although the slave cylinder is operating normally, which leads me to think that i have fitted the seals correctly as the slave cylinder would not work if i hadn't. with the engine off i can change gears normally, i cant try it with the engine running until friday because if i run the engine at night the neighbours with youg children will hate me forever, i have removed the bleed nipple and it is not blocked, So can anyone tell me what on earth is happening ?????

You mean no air has come out since refilling the system??

When my slave cylinder was changed (after 19 years!) it was discovered that it had been installed upside down with the bleed valve at the bottom... God knows how that ever worked.

Presumably the master cylinder was pretty rusty inside if you had to change the seals, are you sure that the bleed hole inside the cylinder is not blocked with rust ?

poking a wire through the hole with the nipple removed will of course push any blockage back into your cylinder - not good... try loosening the nipple again and using gretaer force on the pedal (not enough to bugger the seals again though !

Had the old seal broken up,if so it may be a small piece of that which is blocking something.However if the seals are the correct way round I would have thought you would get some pressure build up ,even if its minimal.

I doubt it would be rusty inside as the cyl is generally alloy but as suggested maybe there is a bit of muck in the pipe etc somewhere?

Just to clarify when i put the tube on the slave bleed nipple nothing comes out during the process no air or brake flud but the slave cylinder moves as normal and disengages the clutch, the condition of the master cylinder is good, the bore is really smove and clean it was only leaking a tiny amount.
I think my car is haunted and i am confused ??????

I dont understand how it has bled itself then, maybe air came out the first few times and then something has blocked the bleed hole, try taking the bleed nipple right out, if the rod is moving you MUST have pressure in the slave.Either that or it is Haunted
