S2 Boot Strut

Hi There

I've a fairly knackered mechanical type boot strut very difficult to get it to engage when the boots open. Has anyone any idea where I can get a replacement. It is possible to replace with a later gas strut?

TVR redesigned the boot lid and opening shape to accommodate the gas strut. They also changed the lock to a side mount on the strut side of the opening to take the strain of the strut.

Made me feel guilty now! I promised to follow up that last thread but other priorities took over. I have however been in contact with the suppliers today and they are sending me out a component which looks virtually identical to the broken one I have lying on my desk at the moment. I will report back as soon as I get it. Est cost about £10-11 for a stay made in stainless and currently in stock. My car is an S1, does anybody know how long that sliding stay was used for?

Its certainly on my car S2 1990, if you can get they I will want one (waybe two, one as a spare)
