Ketvrin popped round last night and we found the problem to be a faulty switch on the steering column. Many thanks Kev and also those who made suggestions on my original post.

Unless you want a serious bidding war to escalate please refrain from bidding on light switches on ebay for the next few days!

Yes it was good to share thoughts... it can be lonely in the middle of a refurb when things dont go as planned, but isnt it great to be able come onto this forum? its like walking into a room of enthusiasts and they all have the same car as you ! (within TVR standards anyway... )
