stupid question

under the seat runners there are penny washers how many go on each bolt? as i have about 40 washers some came with the parts i bought so i dont know how many to use

As standard, one each side of the fiberglass for each bolt. But more could have been added as some point as a quick and dirty way to raise the seat height (not a good way to do it though).

Hi Ken, there should be one washer either side of the g.r.p., but a word of caution! Mine had washers about an inch across. When I had the carpet out I checked the floor and all the rear seat mounting holes showed some signs of damage or splitting. It seems likely that the seat rocks a bit and the floor isnt really strong enough at the back. I didnt fancy the seat breaking through so I got some stainless offcuts about 2" square, drilled them for the bolt and used them instead of the washers.
The other thing is seat height. When I took mine out the drivers seat was right on the floor but the passengers had been fitted using longer bolts and almost an inch thickness of washers! That wasn't at all rigid and the passenger seat wasn't fixed firmly enough.
As I'm only 5'6", and my most likely passenger is even smaller, I experimented on seat height and I found I had to come up about an inch. I got some spacers turned up and threaded, I then used an socket head screw through the seat runner and the spacer and tightened up solid, then the 'washers' and the nut under the floor.

cheers rich i fitted them today with only 1 washer each side but at a later date i will strap across both the back and the front underneath for a more solid fixture
