Radiator hose

Hi people. Anybody know where I can source a radiator to water pump hose (the top one that passes close to the alternator) on a 2.9 V6 S2 ? The alternator has worn a lovely hole in the hose and I don`t really enjoy driving a sauna !! Halfords are as usual.... useless.

I ended up going into my local motor factors (I've been going there for many years so they know me) and asking for a rake through their hoses (ooer Missus). They brought through a big box and I eventually found one the right diameter and with the right shape of "kink" in the middle. I had to cut about 6 inches off one end and 2 off the other but it fitted. I have no idea what it was meant for originally though, so that's probably not a lot of help.

I've seen posts with a part number - have you tried the search facility?

You need to be resourceful to run these cars!

I suspect that you will finish up getting a silicon one from ACT or TVR car parts as the QH ones are no longer available - unless you can find someone who actually has one in stock - QH have withdrawn from the hose market. The one I got was from TVR Car parts and it is fine.

darren ring around the local factors for a qh 1888 its off an astra i got one a few weeks ago with no problem ......i have just re-read your post darren do you mean the one that goes from the swirl pot to the w/pump

I can see those offering a possible solution to the bottom hose connection at the engine and allowing me to get rid of that tatty steel connecting pipe with its step in diameter. What do you think?

Price is reasonable compared to what I have been offered elsewhere and I bet they are decent quality. Have you, or anybody else, had good experience with this company?

Thanks for all your wonderful help, I just wish Halfords actually employed some `experts` who knew more about cars than `starter motors for Ford Mondeos`. Mention a TVR `s` to them and they fall apart !

When My Drive Belt wore a lovely hole in mine, I sourced a nice alloy join from a local motor factors and cut out the offending hole in the existing hose and inserted the join.

Only cost about £3.50 including new clips.

I've used them before when I had a Westfield. They're a good company to deal with and the products are all good quality.
