wiring connections for speedo

Hi guys i dropped the gearbox out from under the car back in january. If any of you have ever done this with the car on axle stands it can be difficult to say the least.Anyway now ive listed my excuse i managed to pull the plastic 3 pin connector off one end of the wiring to the speedo connection on the gearbox. I removed the other half of the connector and decided to reconnect using a multiblock. I thought it would be simple 3 wires one brown, one yellow, one black connect brown to brown yellow to yellow black to black this i did, took the s out today for the first time this year everything was perfect except the speedo isnt working. Have i wired this correctly? could there be any other reason why its not working? It all worked fine before.

Hi Tom
If you've pulled the wires hard enough to pull them out of their connector then you may have pulled them out of their connection at the other end or even snapped a wire within its insulation,do you have a multimeter to test continuity?
If not and you need one, let me know.

I stillcannot get the speedo to work i fitted new electrical connectors and nothing working. Assumed then that i may have damaged the speedo sensor so i got one from douglas valley, fitted that and still no speedo. Getting very frustrated now, any help or ideas very much appreciated.

Steve (SEB400) told me to be careful not to rip the wires out of the speedo sensor when removing the engine & gearbox, as he did when he removed his.
I undid everything, but something was still holding it, it wouldn't come free.
I pulled like hell and it came free, you guessed it, only worse than yours I've ripped the wires out of the sensor so I may have buggered it completely.

According to the diagram I have, the Black wire should have 12v on it to earth and is fed from fuse J, has it got this supply? Also is there a good connection on the yellow/brown wire to terminal 4 of the ECU?
