... they go all over the windscreen, bonnet, grills - splattered insects. On a long journey I get hundreds.

The windscreen and grills are easy to clear - but sometimes the little buggers weld themselves to the bodywork or the headlamps so tightly you just cant get them off.

What are you guys using ? Just soaking, wax and elbow grease - or is there some secret cleaning technique that everyone except me knows ?

Cheers,

WG

Just got a sponge from alfords £2 looks like it wrapped in a fishnet stocking i'll try it later.

Failing that its the bug remover wipes etc but that strips the wax of the car and rewaxing will be required after:

Edited to say this wouls probably get more response in General Gassing .........mods

Prior to collecting London Zoo insect house on your car, the best bet is to get several layers of decent polish on it! Then get rid of the little things ASAP.

Failing that... elbow grease and some bug shifter...

I've got one of these and I'd definitely recommend it. Works really well on glass and paintwork. So far I've not found any dead things it won't shift, but it's not abrasive at all on the paintwork. Perfect!

best thing ive found, is just dampen the bug infested area .. put a damp kitchen towl over the bugs, leave for 10 minutes... bingo, they just wipe off without any paintwork rubbing. Having a good wax/polish on the paintwork also helps the bugs to slide off, i kid you not!

Okey dokey. On the bright side, it's good fun collecting them - this weather is roof-off-tastic !!

I've just been using the zip turtle wash stuff as a cleaner and wax. Is that what you guys use - or am I really pig ignorant ?

I'm to chicken :scared: I won't know my buffing thing from my chamois wotsit - and then they'll form a big online circle and laugh and point and make jokes I don't understand the vocabulary too.

Me ? I'm running like a gazelle !
