A tidy black centre console (S2) lying around after an interior swap or just surplus to requirements? Tried all the usual suspects to no avail. Failing that, has anyone renovated theirs with success. My vinyl is all peeling and flaking away - a real shame as the rest of the interior is fantastic.

The center console on the S2 is an integral part of the dashboard, so you'll need a complete dashboard, or you'll have to renovate the complete dashboard. Olav Bergman on here has renewed the covering on his, but he still has nightmares from it! See his website for more information. If you happen to have the walnut dash, it would be much easier to renew the vinyl, as just the center console is covered in it.

Neil if I remember correctly you have the wooden dash so the lower part will be seperate?

I'd be tempted to buy some black vinyl and glue and have a go a recovering it yourself even if only as a temporary measure. If it already looks terrible can you really make it much worse?

You won't get any stitching obviously but I remember what the interior of your car looked like when it was in the classifieds and that black centre part of the console really let what otherwise looked a very nice car down.

Yep, I guess the DIY approach is probably best. And, you're absolutely right, it really lets the car down - the seats were totally recovered by David Gerald last year so thee interior would be greatly enhanced even by an average DIY attempt
