I think I need a 'rain hat' for my car

I'm going to raid Halfords this evening and see if I can find a cannopy to fit over the hood on my S for a little extra protection when its outside. Is there anything to watch out for or anything you can recommend?

It's only for very occasional use, so I did just think about taping some platic over the point the hood joins the side windows, but I think it deserves a slightly more elegant solution!

The MG Owners Club used to sell something like that for the MGB/C. I imagine it would probably fit an S. It might be worth checking their website.

Hi Chris ,I think Leven did/do a "cradle cap" for the S. Alternatively, I got a really good outdoor cover from a company called Hamilton Classic for about £80

Mine's a Leven one. Came with the car so no idea what they cost. Probably about £100 I would think.

I don't put the top up unless I have to, so I use one of these: Convertible Top Cover

Size is "Small (TC100)". Is very lightweight, but waterproof and packs away very small. I cut off the central underbody strap, but reinforced the four adjustable corner straps (these attach to the wheels via soft plastic hooks).

Mine too, in a very nice faux leather. I have even got an instruction manual and a bag with it! Came with the car though so no idea of the cost. £100 seems a good starting place though.

I bought one of the Hamilton Classics top covers.It`s the same size as MGB,cost about £35 or thereabouts inc.post.It also covers the edge of the bonnet so would help prevent water getting down the bulkhead.

Yes that's the one I have. Easy to put on and doesn't harm the paintwork. I left my S outside over a weekend and it kept the hood completely dry and free of birdsh*t. Also protects from sun damage as it is a metallic silver colour.
