Temperature gauge

My temperature gauge has stopped working but the fan still kicks in at the relevant temperature. Anyone know what the likely problem is? It has always worked fine, does it have its own fuse or share?

The wiring on these cars is a joke ! I have two fuses located right by the exhausts !!...erm plastic fuses and burning hot exhaust pipe, what possessed Trevors boys to place them there?! Anyone know what they are for?
