Air Filter Box for a 2.8i
Discussion
Maybe it is like the one from the XR4i or XR4x4. My dim memory does suggest that these might be slightly different to the Capri ones. Does it have a "Ford" marking or not? Is it steel or plastic? If it is steel, perhaps it could be repaired by welding. If it is possible to post a picture of the damaged part, that might help with getting suggestions.
Hope this works!

Ah, I see. I'm afraid that I cannot help you directly myself, except to tell you that it is definitely not the same as the XR4i version, which has a much smaller steel box.
Assuming you have tried TVR parts speicailists & breakers without success...
If you go to a Ford dealer and give them that part number, they may be able to tell you what car it is off. It is highly unlikely that it is still available new however. There are also some specialist Ford forums where you may find assistance. For example, www.interford.co.uk
Also, the air filter element part number may help you to track back to the original vehicle. Find a helpful auto factor and they might be able to cross-reference it for you.
It does not look like an easy repair, but you could attempt it. If you go to www.waysideadhesives.com and look up "plastic bumper repairs", that is very good stuff. Call them up and ask them for the slow setting version, it gives you more time for fiddly repairs. I've used it very successfully on motorbike fairings. Failing all else, if you are keen, you could mould a replica in fibreglass. You wouldn't need to duplicate all those ribs, a smooth box would do.
Good luck! JW
ETA, further to Barkychoc's comment, the XR4i filter element is smaller and sits in the horizontal plane with a pressed steel lid. I know because I have an XR4i project car all in bits!

The air filter is the same one as the Capri/Granada/Sierra 2.8i but the box itself is different. It may be that a box from something else will bolt on anyway but it doesnt look like it from close scrutiny of photos.
Will keep trawling ebay... something will come up eventually! Thanks very much for your help guys!
