Registation No's BBY

At SCH on Sunday I met up with 3 S's with the registration ending BBY and one more ending in BY. Is this just they were registered in Blackpool or a dealer Notingham way?
I even found the number that preceeds mine!

The references appear to say that BY was North West London or Croydon.

I know that CK was used on a factory cars - Preston.
Also W988AFR (Swordfish Tuscan) and W121BHG (Speed 12) are Preston numbers.

Why do you think Nottingham?

I picked up a new Golf the other day - the next "number" was parked next to it. I assume most dealers have similar blocks. In 1988 the TVR Centre registered about 10 cars in a block (F4xxMLR) it included S1 and Wedges. The guy next to me at SCH had alot of history with his S and I thought he said his origionaly came from Notts. I can't find much history prior to 99 with mine, so I was curious where it might have come from. There is one with a BY reg for sale on in the PH classified this week!

Looking at my history...The first recorded keeper was Alexanders Contract rentals, Edinburgh, registered 2/4/90, I'm not sure if that helps.

BBY are from N London, when X reg were new we had a few Mercs from Edgware that were all X###BBY

I suspect they were registered all over. I found out yesterday my old S2 was apparently a press /factory demonstrator but the plate was YPV or similar (I had a TVR plate on it).
